After just nine months on the job, Coryell County Extension Agent Vanessa Casad has submitted her resignation to return home to Idaho. “I absolutely love it here,” Casad said. “Everyone has been very friendly and helpful...I can’t believe we have so many volunteers. I wish I could pick up all of Coryell County and move them back with me. “But my family is not here, and I can’t be away from them.”

A preliminary autopsy in the death of Joey Alvarado Saenz failed to reveal the cause of death. Coryell County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Joe Blakley said investigators are waiting for the toxicology report, hoping it will shed light on Saenz’ death.

Gatesville attorney Nikki Mundkowsky was appointed this week as associate judge for a newly-created specialty court to hear Child Protective Services (CPS) cases in Coryell and McLennan counties. The appointment was made by Administrative Judge Billy Ray Stubblefield of the Third Administration Judicial Region.
