Gatesville puts 4 on Super Centex team

One of the best combinations of players to hit the field for Gatesville supplied a strong core for a history-making team this season.

After taking the Gatesville boys’ soccer program to the playoffs in just its fourth year of existence, Sebastian Corrales, Abate Hennessy, Ernesto Hernandez and Franco Vega were selected to the Waco Tribune-Herald’s 2013 Super Centex boys’ soccer team, which was released Sunday.

    Hornets to host 7-on-7 tourney

    Football season is still more than two months away, but the Hornets will get an early taste on Saturday.

    Gatesville will host a qualifying tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday at McKamie Stadium for the seventh annual Division II 7-on-7 State Championship Tournament.

    Fire Ant tour back again

    Another year has come and gone, but locals keep riding for a cause.

    Riders will benefit a scholarship fund for Gatesville High School students at the 18th Annual Fire Ant Tour on Saturday, June 8 at the Gatesville Civic Center (formerly the Coryell Activities Complex).

    McKamie upgrades 'preliminary'

    Addison Santulan has trained in Gatesville’s McKamie Stadium, like hundreds of Hornet athletes before him, for years to help the athletic program in the upcoming season.

    With discussions at several recent Gatesville ISD board meetings involving the installation of a new artificial turf football field and more renovations, Santulan said he would approve the changes.
