Marjorie Davis, age 72, formerly of Gatesville, passed away at a local hospital on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.

Memorial services are to be determined at a later date.

Marjorie was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, on October 4, 1939, to Melvin and Elizabeth Nelson. She moved to Coryell County in 1979, which had been her home ever since. She was a hard-working, single mother that raised her two children, Jason and Tracy. Marjorie loved to square dance, play bingo, crochet and sew. She was a member of the Cherokee Indian Nation and Four Winds. Marjorie worked at Walls Factory Outlet for many years as a seamstress until the business closed. She was a very strong woman and overcame many obstacles to live her life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marjorie is survived by her two children, son, Jason Davis, of San Antonio and daughter, Tracy Coursey and husband, Chris, of Gatesville; brother, Sam Nelson and wife, June, of Kellyville, OK; two sisters, Christine Mann and husband, Gary, of Bartlesville, OK and Anita Dean of Copperas Cove, TX; five grandchildren, Macie, Alexander, Colten, Kaylyn and Cayleigh; and great-granddaughter, Kynnleigh. She is also survived by many family members and friends.

No obituary will be accepted unless it is provided by a licensed funeral home. Information on obituaries are published free of charge in The Gatesville Messenger.
