George Richter of Bellmead died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at a Waco hospital. He was 85.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating.

Mr. Richter was born Sept. 11, 1927 in Waelder to John and Sofia Tabola Richter. He married Annie Branecky in 1953 and worked for Phillips 66 for seven years. He retired from the City of Bellmead after 27 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Richter of Bellmead; sons, George M. Richter of Waco, Tommy Richter of Waco and Steven Richter of Oglesby; a sister, Josephine Lewis of Oklahoma; brothers, Victor Richter of Arizona and twin brother August Richter of Flatonia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

No obituary will be accepted unless it is provided by a licensed funeral home. Information on obituaries are published free of charge in The Gatesville Messenger.
