A land deal that expanded the size of Mother Neff State park showed the private sector and government can work together to the benefit of the general public.
Chuck Scott said the deal that added 142 acres to the first state park in Texas was done on the same basis that was first agreed to on a handshake several years ago.
Scott and his wife, Sandi, sold about 12 acres of their property to the state park, while the largest section of the new park was acquired from Larry and Charlotte Weiss.
