July 1, 1931 – December 30, 2012

Thomas Elmer Waters, age 81, of Gatesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 30, 2012.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Jess McCabe officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Restland Cemetery.

Thomas was born July 1, 1931, to the late Clarence and Lil Shelton Waters. He was born and raised in Atlanta, Texas. Thomas entered the Army at age 17, retiring as a first sergeant with over 25 years of service. He married Alice Cox in 1956 and she preceded him in death in 2009. He then married Irene Perkins on August 23, 2010. Thomas was a member of Boots and Saddle Cowboy Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roland Waters, on December 29, 1992.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Irene; son, Andy Waters; daughter, Belinda Clift; step-daughters, Nancy Birtcher, Patsy Jones and Deborah Plagans; step-son, Ricky Perkins; sister, Jimmie Wheaton; brothers, Clarence Edward Waters and Harley Waters; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Charles Davis and Randy Jones.

Memorials may be made to Boots ’N Saddle Cowboy Church, 1901 C.R. 176, Gatesville, TX 76528.
