Robert L. Sneed, age 89, of Gatesville, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glen Sutton officiating. Interment followed at Murphree Cemetery in Evant.
Robert was born on June 23, 1923, in Evant, Texas, to George and Emma Sneed. He attended school at Evant ISD and was on the first football team. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Germany and in France. After his discharge from the Army, he worked and retired from the oil field, working his way up from lineman to line supervisor. After retiring from the oil field, he bought a farm and began farming and ranching. He was a member of the Bee House Masonic Lodge in Evant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Evant. He attended Baptist services at The Oaks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma; a brother, Troy Sneed and wife, Noma; brother-in-law, Clayton Spradling; and two nephews, Richard Spradling and James Sneed.
Robert is survived by two sisters, Jessie Faye Spradling and Pauline Sutton; three nephews, Floyd A Sutton and his wife, Denise, Glen Sutton and his wife, Debbie and Kenneth Sneed; two nieces, Linda Kidd and her husband, Kenneth and Judy Scott; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, Coryell Memorial Hospital or other charitable organizations of your choice.
