January 3, 1914 – January 10, 2013

Clayda Parrish Hedgpeth Allen, age 99, of Gatesville, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at a Temple hospital.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Burial followed at Live Oak Cemetery.

Clayda was born on January 3, 1914, in Hamilton County, Texas, to the late Hillary Parrish and Kate Hill Parrish. She took up oil painting in 1951 and taught art classes. She retired from Texas Youth Council in 1975. Clayda lived in Hamilton for many years, and then moved to Gatesville in 1962.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Hedgpeth; daughter, Kitty Davene Dees; step-daughter, Diana Gibson; three brothers; and two sisters.

Clayda is survived by her husband, Frank Allen; son, David Ben Hedgpeth and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Claydene Slover; step-son, David Allen; step-daughter, Kathy Chambers; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
