Gatesville got a hot start to the 2013 softball season Monday, but it only lasted two innings.

Four runs in the first inning and two more in the second gave the Hornets a six-run cushion at home against Georgetown East View in a cold and damp season opener, but the bats cooled with the weather and the Lady Patriots heated up late to take the 11-9 win.
