Ashley Cook just wanted one more run in the District 8-3A softball opener.
With two on base and a nine-run cushion over Lampasas in the bottom of the fifth Friday, Gatesville’s senior outfielder hit a fly ball to left field that flew just out of the reach of the shallow outfielder, bringing in senior Riley Latham to notch the 13-3 run-rule win at home.
