Central Texas VET-RIDE program introduced in Coryell County area

It was recently announced by the Texas Veterans Commission that the Central Texas VET-RIDE program will soon be servicing Coryell County.

The new program will provide rides to eligible regions of Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Mills, Milam, and San Saba counties in Texas.

The Central Texas VET-RIDE program will provide veterans and their dependents transportation services including daily, weekly, or monthly ride-share services in local areas in support of basic needs, work, school, medical appointments, or other non-social events or activities.

The Central Texas Aging Disability and Veterans Resource Center in partnership with the HOP will utilize the Micro Transit Ride Share system for the TVC grant.

Transportation services will include medical appointments, grocery store visits, shopping, federal/state visits, and local offices.

The eligibility status will include veterans, a veteran’s spouse, unmarried widows, veteran dependent children under the age of 18, and dependents with a documented disability over the age of 18. Those qualifying must be a resident of Texas and have a veteran status of being honorably discharged or general discharge.

This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance, which provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families.
