Corona announces candidacy for City of Gatesville Mayor

I, Leo Corona, authorize The Gatesville Messenger to announce my candidacy for the office of City of Gatesville Mayor in the upcoming election from Oct. 21, 2024 - Nov. 5, 2024.

My Texas-born wife, Dana Corona; daughters, Tristi and Bridgett; son, Scott; and I made Gatesville our home in 2012. I retired out of Fort Hood from the U.S. Army after over 20 years of service. I volunteer for numerous nonprofit organizations including The Exchange Club, Disabled American Veterans Post 74, the Gatesville ISD Friends on Duty, Mission Righteous Roots, North Fort Cavazos Community Council, Keep Gatesville Beautiful, and Centex Crime Stoppers. My goal as mayor is to foster a positive and mutually supportive relationship between the Council members and the city manager, which will increase the odds of having a high-performing and successful city. I will fulfill the duties and responsibilities inherent in the role as your Mayor and will at all times conduct myself so as to bring credit upon the city of Gatesville. I will ensure your local government maintains infrastructure and a budget to safeguard your tax dollars. I will address your concerns diligently, serve as a role model for our youth, and continue to engage with our community. I look forward to serving as your mayor and to promoting dialogue between our citizens and the City Council members including full transparency and accountability.
