Hamburger Pie

This recipe appeared in the “Methodist Best” cookbook in 2008. The Gatesville Messenger plans to run a series of recipes from that cookbook. Hamburger Pie

2 lbs. ground beef                                           ½ med. yellow onion, chopped

1 c. tomato soup                                              1 c. French style green beans, drained

4 med. potatoes, mashed

In skillet, brown ground beef with onion. Drain excess fat. Place meat in casserole dish and cover meat with soup. Pour drained green beans over soup. Top with mashed potatoes. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes at 350. Optional: add grated cheese on top or two tablespoons of butter, but not both.
