32 GHS scholar-athletes earn Academic All-State honors

A total of 32 Gatesville High School scholar-athletes were recently recognized for earning All State Academic honors during the May meeting of the Gatesville Independent School District Board of Trustees.

GISD Athletic Director Rickey Phillips said factors considered in the selection include class rank, grade-point average and performance on SAT and ACT college tests. He said 13 different athletic teams at GHS are represented, and that the 32 students filled 50 spots on the All State Academic teams.

* Payton Armstrong in soccer

* Cody Attaway in football

* Charlee Barron in volleyball and soccer

* Lola Barron in volleyball and soccer

* Brookelyn Bird in cross country and track

* Lena Clawson in powerlifting

* Joshua Colaston in tennis

* Kylie Cox in basketball

* William Crozier in baseball

* Lindsey Cummings in powerlifting and track

* Slone Early in tennis

* Preslea Edmond in tennis

* Grant Erwin in football and baseball

* Lucas Garcia in football and tennis

* Rachel Garrett in volleyball

* Vielka Gonzalez in powerlifting

* Cameron Harley in track

* Kason Herbelin in football, baseball and track

* Ben Mabry in tennis and baseball

* Carlo Martinez in cross country, tennis and track

* Khloe Mathews in volleyball and track

* Mason Mooney in football and baseball

* Aydan Necessary in football and baseball

* Ethan Nichols in basketball

* Grace Penrod in cross country and soccer
