Pearl Church of Christ reports another successful VBS in the books for 2024. The study this year centered on King David, and the little ones learned about David and Goliath. The theme was “Jesus Loves You,” and everyone who attended received a royal purple t-shirt sporting those precious words on the front. The attendance for this past week was 241, making a grand total of 3,713 since the inception of this mission in 1991. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this such a fun and meaningful week in Pearl—it could not happen without you. Thank you also to those who contributed so generously in other ways, including keeping the Pearl Church of Christ annual VBS in your prayers. A special shout out to Pearl Community Church for their generous donation, something they have done since they opened their doors many years ago. We are a very blessed community indeed.
Note the following disclaimer from Linda Ray—it was reported that Linda intentionally sent whistles home with every child in a gift box upon leaving VBS on the last day. This was emphatically denied by Linda as she said she did not know that whistles were in those boxes, and she has “doubly emphatically” asked me to report this disclaimer in the Pearl News. Now, we have been known for our “fake news” on occasion, but rest assured this is not one of those occasions. I, myself, believe that our Linda Ray would never do such a thing! (Well, that’s not exactly true but who’s to say? Ron McDonald might or might not back me on this).
Future dates for Bookstore and Pearl Bluegrass days are July 6, Aug. 3, Sept. 14 (second Saturday due to longstanding booking for a reunion), Oct. 5, Nov. 2, and Dec. 7. Mark your calendars. Kay and Corlisa will love seeing you, so stop by and visit, and enjoy a shopping adventure.
There will be a Pearl Cemetery Meeting on June 24, at 7 p.m., at the Pearl Community Center. All are invited to attend. The Pearl Community Center Board quarterly meeting will be held July 22, with the fourth quarterly meeting being held on Oct. 28, also at the Pearl Community Center. Both meetings of the Pearl Community Center Board will be at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend as well.
The Pearl Church of Christ will hold its annual Revival on July 6 and 7, with an ice cream supper following the service on the 7th. The church service will begin at 7 p.m. with the ice cream fellowship immediately following. The Sunday morning church service begins at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend and to bring friends, family, and people you just met with you.
This week’s Bible verse comes from Psalm 37:1-3—Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. KJV
