Beware Seniors!

Posted

Dear Editor,

I’m writing this letter for seniors to be on the alert.

On May 22, my phone rang, and the caller ID said it was Coryell Health. The man said he would be sending me a new Medicare card. He had an accent. I hung up on him. He called me back and asked, “Why did you hang up on me?” I told him that it showed Coryell Health, and Medicare doesn’t send out new cards. He said, “I’m terminating your card,” and he slammed the phone down. I called the clinic, and it showed a doctor’s office that I haven’t seen except when I was in the hospital years ago had called me twice. I called Medicare, and she said she had seen a lot in the last 3 years where the scammers use a phone bank. They apparently hack a local number. She said they sound like they’re from the Philippines. They use the termination of your Medicare card as a scare technique.

Medicare will never call you. Please don’t give out any of your personal information to anyone! PLEASE, SENIORS, BEWARE!
