Community invited to Year-End Shout-Out on May 8

Ricky Phillips, Gatesville athletic director, invites the public to attend a Year-End Shout-Out for students to be held on Monday, May 8. The shout out is to recognize all 2022-2023 athletic teams and their accomplishments. There is no admission or charge for this event.

A social will be held in the gym foyer from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., there will be light snacks served.

The recognition program will begin in the gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. and will continue to 8 p.m. Student-athletes will be seated on the gym floor and all other guests will sit in the home bleachers.

During the program, the school will recognize the accomplishments of all fall, winter, and spring sports teams, coaches, athletes, student trainers, managers, film students, and statisticians in each sport. As well as letterman’s being presented to all fall sport athletes and will recognize all first-time letter jacket recipients from the current school year. Athletes who have signed Letters of Intent to play at the collegiate level, and athletes that have been selected to play in the upcoming Heart of Texas FCA Victory Bowl All-Star Games in basketball, football, softball, and volleyball will be recognized as well. Recognition will be given to seniors who earned prestigious THSCA Academic All-State accolades, athletes that received district academic honors in their respective sports, and all student-athletes that are honor graduates from the Class of 2023.

A special farewell speech and send-off will be delivered to all senior student-athletes. Seniors will need to be in attendance as each senior student will introduce themselves at the podium, stating their name, sport, and a brief comment of their future plans after high school.

All athletes will need to be dressed appropriately, no caps or hats on the gym floor.
