Donations needed for Total Eclipse meal

With the Total Eclipse coming to Coryell County, Righteous Roots has announced that it will host a meal for the community during the weekend of Friday, April 5, through Monday, April 8.

There will be four meals served to over 200 people as well as having information shared about the services of Righteous Roots, victims’ rights, and Jesus.

Righteous Roots is currently in need of donations, whether that be volunteer work or items for the meal.

Ways to donate include:

  • Sign-up to purchase some of the non-perishable items on the list and bring them by Righteous Roots’ facility.
  • Coordinate the people in your circle or church to bake items in one of the needed categories.
  • Volunteer to help Righteous Roots on the weekend of the Total Eclipse by aiding in the downtown festival, prepare and serve the meal, or monitor the parking lot for paid parking on Saturday, April 6.

List of items prepared/cooked items:

  • Fruit salad, four big bowls.
  • Cookies, 10 dozen.
  • Brownies, 10 dozen.
  • Rice Krispie Treats, 10 dozen.
  • Texas Sheet Cake, 6 cakes.
  • Pies, 20 of any kind that does not have to be refrigerated.
  • Cornbread, 10 pans.
  • Chili, enough to feed 100 people.
  • Soup, any kind, enough to feed 100 people.
  • Salad, lettuce, and vegetables of your choosing, premixed, enough to feed 150 people.

Items are to be dropped off at the Righteous Roots building by 9 a.m. on Friday, April 5.

List of needed items:

  • Non-latex gloves, three boxes.
  • Lemonade mix, two large powder mixes.
  • Tea bags, four boxes.
  • Chips, eight boxes that are individually wrapped.
  • Pancake batter, 10 boxes.
  • Syrup, 10 bottles.
  • Jar of pepperoncini peppers, six jars.
  • Jalapeno peppers, four jars.
  • Beefy onion soup and dip mix, six boxes.
  • Small plastic tongs, 10 pairs.
  • Bottled water, 10 cases.
  • Salad dressing, four large ranch, two Italian, and two thousand islands.
  • Mustard, four bottles.
  • Mayo, four bottles.
  • Ketchup, six bottles.
  • Saltine crackers, six boxes.
  • Shredded cheese, four large bags that will freeze.
  • Salted butter, eight of the four stick boxes for a total of 32 sticks that will freeze.
  • Pork Roasts, 10 large roasts that will freeze.
  • Hawaiian rolls, 10 of the 24 packs.
  • Eight-pound bags of russet potatoes, 10 bags.
  • Large bag of baby carrots, 10 bags.

Be sure to drop off the items to Righteous Roots as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, March 29.
