FM 116 construction to cause closures Thursday night

Construction along FM 116 north of Copperas Cove is expected to cause various lane closures on Thursday, June 20, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) said in a traffic advisory.

The construction is scheduled to be active from 9 p.m. on Thursday through 7 a.m. on Friday.

Crews will perform concrete work along the southbound FM 116 frontage road near Texas State Highway 9, TxDOT says. Closures include the southbound FM 116 frontage road at SH 9, the northbound FM 116 main lanes over SH 9, and SH 9 under the bridges.

Northbound FM 116 traffic will be directed onto the northbound frontage road, while southbound FM 116 and SH 9 traffic will be directed through Copperas Cove.

TxDOT says the work closure is part of their ongoing project to construct two overpasses on FM 116 as well as reconstruct the FM 116 and SH 9 intersection, which is scheduled to be completed this year.
