Gatesville Lions at Care Center

Posted

The Gatesville Lions Club lives by its motto, "We Serve." Each first Wednesday of the month, immediately following their weekly luncheon and program at Junction on 36, club members pack boxes for the clients of the Care Center. While the Lions engage in numerous service projects within the local community, filling boxes for the Care Center remains a cherished tradition. This past Wednesday, seven members lent their helping hands. Thanks to the strong turnout, the group set a new record, packing 36 boxes in just one hour. The spirit of giving back to the community is at the heart of the Lions' mission, and the camaraderie and enjoyment in the process are palpable.

On Wednesday, June 5, the Lions were treated to a presentation by Edward Jones consultant Oliver Puhr. Oliver shared insights from his recent company-sponsored trip to Normandy Beach, a reward for top-performing employees. As an avid history enthusiast, Oliver highlighted key points of interest during his visit with his partner, Bridgette. The presentation was particularly poignant, occurring just one day before the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Each weekly meeting features an engaging and informative presentation. Last week, the local club marked its own milestone—the 90th anniversary—with the installation of new officers and a special meal generously provided by an anonymous donor at Junction 36.

For those interested in joining the Gatesville Lions Club, the weekly luncheons are open to visitors. Prospective members can expect a warm welcome around 11:45 a.m. every Wednesday at Junction 36. Meals are served upon arrival, allowing time to mingle with other Lions before the program begins at approximately 12:10 p.m. For further information about joining and serving, please feel free to contact any local Lion.
