One of Gatesville’s local non-profit organizations, Hidden Gem Family Center, has announced that it will host its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The festival will be held at the Gatesville Civic Center, located at 301 Veteran’s Memorial Loop, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Admission will be free, and there will be tickets for activities available to purchase.

Activities will include a pet palooza/costume contest, adult bingo, a scavenger hunt, a bounce house, a nerf war, axe throwing, a talent show, concessions, baked goods contest, and various vendor booths.

The pet palooza/costume contest will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will include an entrance fee of $10. The categories will be Best Dressed, Most Talented, and Cutest Breed. To sign up for the event, visit hiddengemfamilycenter.org to pay the fee and be sure that your email is added as well so a form can be sent to your inbox.

There will also be an adult bingo game for the community which will begin at 10 a.m. There will be prizes for each winner.

Founder of Hidden Gem Family Center Jenny Featherston said, “We are adding the Gatesville Has Talent Show for anyone who would like to participate,” she said. “We will have a concession stand that we did not have last year as well.”

Gatesville Has Talent will take place at 1 p.m. and is open to all ages. Contestants will be divided into age groups, which will be kids, 0-12 years old; teens, 13 to 19 years old; adults, 20 years and up.

There will be a $25 entry fee for each act, and all entries must be either individual or group acts. All entries should be family appropriate as well as the costume and clothing used in the act. Acts will be no longer than four minutes, and each individual/group will receive a wireless microphone, which can be handheld or on a stand.

Awards will be presented in each age division, although, there will be one overall winner who will be invited to perform at the Boozaar that evening.

Featherston expressed that she believes the Harvest Festival is important, because it promotes the Hidden Gem Family Center’s non-profit organization as well as including the entire community in an event at a reasonable cost.
