Gatesville Primary School recently held its annual 2024 end of the year award ceremony this past week on Thursday, May 16.
Two staff members, Lacey Jenkins and Sandra Brown were honored with teacher and employee of the year.
Lacey Jenkins received the Teacher of the Year award for her hard work and dedication to her students during the school year. She began her journey at the Primary in the Early Childhood Special Education department (ECSE), and now has been employed with the district for over four years and teaches kindergarten.
“Lacey has accomplished so much over her short career; she is a very talented teacher who is loved by all her students and their families,” principal Van Collins said. “She is an excellent asset to the kindergarten team and Gatesville Primary is lucky to have her.”
Secretary Sandra Brown has been with the Primary for over 32 years and was recently honored with the Employee of the Year award for her devotion to the school, staff, and students. She works in the front office each day, as the jack-of-all-trades handling various tasks such as scheduling and paperwork, helping with visitors and students, taking phone calls, and much more.
“Sandra has been the heart and soul of this campus for years; she is loved and respected by everyone on our campus,” Collins said. “Gatesville Primary couldn't ask for a better secretary.”
