Pear Cobbler

This recipe appeared in the “Methodist Best” cookbook in 2008. The Gatesville Messenger plans to run a series of recipes from that cookbook. Pear Cobbler

Kathie Brown

½ c. butter                                          3 c. sliced pears, sweeten to taste

1 c. sugar                                             ½ tsp. cinnamon

1 c. flour                                              ½ c. brown sugar

1 T. baking powder

¾ c. milk

Melt butter until brown, pour into 9x13 inch baking dish. Cool. Mix sugar, flour, baking powder, and milk. Pour into melted butter, but do not stir. Gently stir cinnamon and sugar (to taste) into sliced pears. Pour pears on top of batter without mixing. Cover with brown sugar. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot or cold.
