Butter Cake

1/3 c. soft butter 1 ½ c. flour
7/8 c. sugar 1 ¼ tsp. baking soda
1 egg ½ tsp. salt
¾ tsp. vanilla 5/8 c. milk
Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour 2 layer pans 9x11 ½. Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until fluffy. Beat 5 minutes on high. Measure flour by dip-level pour method or sifting. Blend flour, baking powder and salt. Mix in alternately with milk. Use low speed. Pour into pans. Bake 30 to 40 minutes.
