The Pearl Community Center Board quarterly meeting will be held July 22, with the fourth quarterly meeting being held on Oct. 28, also at the Pearl Community Center. Both meetings of the Pearl Community Center Board will be at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
The Pearl Church of Christ reports a very successful and joyful revival last weekend. Total attendance for the two-day revival was 78. Everyone enjoyed speaker Chris Halpayne, the ice cream supper, Sunday brunch, and the wonderful fellowship. Angels are also rejoicing that two sweet souls were baptized on Sunday afternoon! Everyone is looking forward to next summer’s revival.
The Pearl Cottage Bookstore and the Pearl Bluegrass event reported great attendance this past Saturday. The next Bookstore and Bluegrass Day is Aug. 3. I hear that even Kay behaved herself on Saturday, but I imagine Corlisa had to keep her finger on her. She had her hands full with that one, I hear. You never know what you might miss at the bookstore, so make plans now to be in Pearl next month. There’s no place like Pearl!
Here, in deep, east Texas, we are awaiting Tropical Depression Beryl to hit. Tomorrow, July 8, we will see what Beryl unleashes. I’m praying for light rain only and no loss of electricity. This Pearl news correspondent does not do well with no a/c, as my plethora of cold-natured friends can verify (Kay, Linda, Corlisa, etc.). I’ll try to remember to update you next week. In the meantime, please pray for those areas affected by this hurricane. There could be some serious, long-term effects, I’m told. I’m also praying that Central Texas does not experience any part of Beryl, as Gatesville and surrounding areas are still recovering from May’s floods. We don’t want the rain to cease completely, but that just enough falls to avoid drought conditions and to keep the lake levels adequate.
