Pearl Bluegrass event is a great opportunity to enjoy your day

Posted

Future dates for Bookstore and Pearl Bluegrass days are July 6, Aug. 3, Sep. 14 (second Saturday due to a longstanding booking for a reunion), Oct. 5, Nov. 2, and Dec. 7. Mark your calendars. Kay and Corlisa will love seeing you, so stop by and visit and enjoy a shopping adventure. Also, the Pearl Bluegrass event is a great opportunity for nursing homes, retirement homes, and assisted living residents to get out and enjoy a day of music and fun for free. There is no admission to sit in the auditorium to listen to the various bands that come to play on the stage. The stage show begins at 1 p.m. and usually goes on until about 5 p.m. in the afternoon. Besides listening to the bands, visiting, and just being out in the country in Pearl is refreshing and delightful. Truly, there’s no place like Pearl. Please let your activity directors in the various area senior settings know all about Pearl. They’ll love you for it!

There will be a Pearl Cemetery Meeting on June 24, at 7 p.m., at the Pearl Community Center. All are invited to attend. The Pearl Community Center Board quarterly meeting will be held July 22, with the fourth quarterly meeting being held on Oct. 28, also at the Pearl Community Center. Both meetings of the Pearl Community Center Board will be at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend as well.

The Pearl Church of Christ will hold its annual Revival on July 6 and 7, with an ice cream supper following the service on the 7th. The church service will begin at 7 p.m., with the ice cream fellowship immediately following. The Sunday morning church service begins at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend and to bring friends, family, and people you just met with you.

Every evening, I get a “Pearl Report” from my local contact, and I look forward to that report even more than my traditional bowl of vanilla ice cream with the chocolate hard-shell topping—and that’s saying a lot. This past week, though, all I’ve gotten is “all’s quiet in Pearl.” Since VBS is over and the June Bluegrass and Bookstore has passed, there hasn’t been anything to report. Fortunately, as you can see from the preceding paragraphs, things are about to heat up again. Well, that could also describe the dreaded summer weather. However, let’s not let the summer heat keep attendance down during the Bluegrass and Bookstore events, the board meetings, or the Church of Christ annual Revival. You don’t want to miss those happenings. You all must cooperate and attend so that I actually have something to write about. It makes me too sad to hear, “all’s quiet in Pearl!” Remember, there’s no place like Pearl, so be there or be square.

This week’s Bible verse comes from Psalm 74:16,17—The day and the night are Yours. You set the moon and sun in their places. It was You who set all the boundaries of the earth; You made both summer and winter. Psalm 103:1—Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name. RSV
