Power outages expected as electrical work begins in Gatesville

Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) announced via Facebook on Monday that customers may experience power outages as they perform electrical work over the next month.

Starting this week, TNMP will begin converting system voltage and replacing transformers that could cause outages in some homes and businesses across Gatesville. Each outage is expected to last between one to four hours, and not all customers will be affected by the conversion, TNMP says.

“This work will affect small batches of customers at a time, as we will be working block by block,” TNMP states via social media.

TNMP spokesperson Sara Yingling said via email that customers who are impacted by the work will receive door hangers on their homes.

The work will take four to six weeks to complete, Yingling adds.

According to a map from TNMP, the areas that will be affected by the electrical work include N. 10th Street, Lutterloh Avenue, E. Main Street, Saunders Street, S. 19th Street, Waco Street, and parts of Bridge Street.

“We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to upgrade our infrastructure to improve the reliability of your service,” TNMP writes on Facebook.
