The 2024 Texas High School Football Hall of Fame Ceremony was held on Saturday, May 18, in Waco.
During the ceremony, coach Jebb Dixon was presented with the 2023 Gordon Wood Award for the Tiger football team’s efforts on the field this past season.
The award is given to one Texas high school football team each year and is selected in consultation with members of the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. It is designed to be awarded to a team who achieves success on the field, displays good sportsmanship, has community support, and has the ability to overcome challenges.
With this being the first time in the school’s history that Oglesby has ever won the Gordon Wood Award, coaches Jebb Dixon and Julian Helms expressed that they are both extremely honored to receive such a title that recognizes their sportsmanship, toughness, and success.
“We are extremely honored and humbled to receive the Gordon Wood Award,” Dixon and Helms said. “Without all these guys on our team, there would not be the success that we have.”
