Youth golf camp slated for July 22-24

A youth golf camp will be held in July for all incoming first through ninth graders. The camp will be held at the Gatesville Golf Course from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. from Monday, July 22 to Wednesday, July 24.

The camp will be hosted by Gatesville Golf Course Pro Ray Feight and Gatesville High School Alumni and Collegiate Golfer Kaylan Summers.

During the first day of camp on Monday, there will be an introduction to the game, covering club types, grip techniques, and swing fundamentals. On Tuesday, the group will work on refining skills and preparing kids for the drive, chip, and putt contest. It will conclude with oncourse practicing. On Wednesday, there will be a competitive drive, chip, and putt contest for each age division, and will be open for parents to attend.

There will be an award ceremony to conclude the camp on Wednesday, July 24 at 11 a.m. and will be located under the pavilion at the golf course.

A limited number of clubs will be provided for those who need them. There will also be drinks and snacks available for purchase.

Be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, a cooling towel, a water jug, and bug spray.

The registration fee will be $40-per-child. The camp will only be taking the first 50 paid kids.
