Basketball camp held for future Hornets

Gatesville Independent School District recently hosted its annual basketball camp from Monday, June 10 to Wednesday, June 12 for aspiring Hornet athletes.

Students from first through ninth grade attended the camp where they learned new drills and techniques as well as obtaining more knowledge in basketball.

Campers from each grade got a chance to win an award at the basketball camp.

Awards include

First and Second Grade Winners: Austin Carren, MVP; Charlie Campbell, Do Right; Max Smith, Hustle; Ledger Mooney, Best Dribbler; Grant Sullins, Best Shooter; Lucas Vasquez, Basketball Sharks and Minnows; and Charlie Campbell and Cole Howard, Buzzer Beater.

Third and Fourth Grade Winners: Jaxon Knox and Kolter Wright, MVP; Braxton Young and Dean Stanley, Do Right; Judson Thornton and Dylan Collins, Hustle; Jaxon Knox, Layup; Jagger Newman, Free Throw; Dylan Collins, Hot Shot; Kolter Wright, Buzzer Beater; and Dylan Collins, Dribble Knockout and Knockout.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Winners: Dayvion Nealey and Eli Inman, MVP; Max Powell and Blake Winkler, Do Right; Elliot Campbell and Owen Collins, Hustle; Eli Inman, Layup, Hot Shot, and Dribble Knockout; and Owens Collins, Buzzer Beater and Knockout.

Seventh and Ninth Grade Winners: Grady Keeton and Jaxson Franks, MVP; Andrew Winkler and Preston Barron, Do Right; Braxton Brown, Brensyn Pope, and Cayden Buster, Hustle; Grady Keeton, Layup; Jaxson Franks and Brayden Warren, Free Throw; Grady Keeton and Kian D’Ingianni, Hot Shot; Grady Keeton, Buzzer Beater; and Preston Barron, Knockout.
