GISD hosts football camp for young athletes

Gatesville Independent School District recently held its annual Hornet football camp for students in first through sixth grade from Monday, June 3, to Wednesday, June 5.

The camp was attended by 90 young men who learned various fundamentals, skills, techniques, and drills, as well as participating in a few competitions.

Competition Winners

Catch Competition: Coleman Wright, first grade; Ledger Mooney, second grade; Ayden Jenkins, third grade; Dylan Collins, fourth grade; Dayvion Nealy, fifth grade; and Owen Collins, sixth grade.

Throwing Accuracy Competition: Rhyder Jackson, first grade; Theo Aguirre, second grade; Jaxon Stevens, third grade; Cooper Floyd, fourth grade; Bryce Manning, fifth grade; and TJ Sullivan, sixth grade.

The next Hornet football camp will be from Monday, July 29, to Wednesday, July 31. It will be from 7:30-10:30 a.m. and is for seventh through ninth grade students. The cost will be $40 per athlete.
