Jo Carol Freeman Ivey, 76, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on April 29, 2024, after a long, brave battle with COPD.
Jo Carol was born on April 2, 1948, to Tom and Uneva Chafin Freeman in Gatesville, She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1966.

Jo Carol and Joe Miles (Levita, TX) were married in June 1966. Their son, Michael Joe Miles, was born in August of 1968 in Houston, TX.
Jo Carol and Pete Ivey married in April of 1972. They were married until Pete died in 2020.
Jo Carol worked at the prestigious Tulsa law firm of Boone Smith from 1987 until 2000 as a legal secretary/executive assistant to senior partner Reuben Davis. She supported Mr. Davis in his legal profession and his work with the Boy Scouts of America, Indian Nation Council, and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. Her colleagues highly respected her, and she made lifelong friends while working at Boone Smith.
After leaving Boone Smith, she and her late husband, Pete Ivey, moved to Grand Lake, where she continued her career by working for the Delaware County Court Clerk in Jay, Oklahoma.
Jo Carol began working at the Delaware County Courthouse in 2000 as a 2nd Deputy, but was quickly moved to 1st Deputy shortly after starting. Her duties were acting as payroll clerk and employee insurance coordinator. Like her years in Tulsa, Jo Carol was blessed to have made many dear friends in Jay and Grove, Oklahoma.
Jo Carol was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Uneva, and her husband, Pete.
She is survived by her son, Michael, her daughter-in-law, Christina Miles, and her two granddaughters, Davy and Presley Miles, whom she adored and constantly bragged about.
Jo Carol loved staying in contact with all of her Texas family and friends, as well as her Tulsa and Grove friends. Though COPD kept her from traveling, she cherished her connections with her friends and family.
