Oglesby JH Football open season with 31-6 win over Gholson

The Oglesby junior high Tigers football team opened the 2024 season with a 31-6 victory over the Gholson wildcats, Thursday Sept.12, in Gholson.

Offensively for the Tigers

Brody Martinez had six carries for 65 yards and one touchdown. 

Caiden Brinkley had one carry for a 35-yard touchdown run, two receptions for 20 yards, and a one-yard touchdown. Brinkley had 56 total yards.

Liam Standridge had two carries for 45 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown run and one point-after-touchdown (PAT). 

Hunter Insall had one carry for 15 yards. 

Defensively for Tigers

Brody Martinez had four solo tackles and one assist for five tackles. 

Liam Standridge had two solos and two assists for four tackles. 

Caiden Brinkley had two solos, one assist, and three tackles. 

AJ Mafra had one assist and two fumble recoveries. 

Hunter Insall had one solo tackle and one interception. 

Rancher Jeffcoat had one solo tackle. 

Slayton Fisher had one solo tackle. 

The junior high Tigers hosted the Abbott Panthers on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. Results from the game will be featured in the Saturday, Sept. 28 edition of The Gatesville Messenger.
