Bell County Master Gardeners release June events

The Bell County Master Gardeners Association recently announced their events schedule for the month of June. For those interested in gardening, the events held during the month are:

 

June 10

 

The Bell County Master Gardener Association presents a Hands-on Workshop “Hush and Eat Your Flowers” on Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Texas Agrilife Extension Service located at 1605 N. Main Street, Belton. Please join Certified Master Gardener Kim Pringle and Master Gardener and Professional Baker Rowena Fengel for an introduction to edible flowers. There will be tips, reminders, and handouts on how to easily incorporate fresh and dried edible flowers and herbs from your own garden into drinks, salads, entrees, and desserts. Then it is your turn to decorate a cupcake with edible flowers and herbs. Bring your apron for an enjoyable morning of learning and creativity. Class Limit 20. The class Fee $17 per person. The BCMGA Presents a Free Monthly Seminar “Soil Science for the Home Gardener” on Thursday, June 15, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Texas Agrilife Extension Service, BCMGA Learning Center located at 1605 N. Main Street, Belton. Certified Master Gardener and Soil Scientist, Pat Mielnick will discuss why soil is important, the essentials for plant growth, and the need for submitting a soil test. JUN 17

Please plan to join the BCMGA for a tour of the Killeen Municipal Court Community Garden on Saturday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The KMCCG is located directly behind the Killeen Convention & Visitors Bureau located at 3601 S. W.S. Young Drive, Killeen. Certified Master Gardener Dave Slaughter, Director of the KMCCG, as well as other Certified Master Gardeners, will be on site to provide tours of the garden and will answer questions on weeding as well as conducting demonstrations on harvesting. The tours are free and open to the public. No registration or sign-up required.
