Posted

Marshall Brown, Sons of the Republic of Texas lecturer, will be the speaker at the July 9, 2024 meeting of the Coryell County Genealogical Society. Mr. Brown is a Coryell County native, who is descended from the Nimrod Brown family.

“San Jacinto” is the topic for Mr. Brown’s program. San Jacinto is associated with several famous events in Texas history, including the Run Away Scrape that preceded the decisive Battle of San Jacinto.

Genealogists use history to enhance their understanding of their ancestors’ lives, and the study of our colorful Texas history can uncover some interesting family information.

The public is welcome to attend the 6 p.m. meeting at the Gatesville Public Library located at 111 N. 8th Street.
