Car show held to benefit Disabled American Veterans

A car show was held on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Bare Bones BBQ.

The proceeds from the car show are to benefit the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). All years and models were present at the show.

According to car show officials, there were 91 entries, including motorcycles. The Tommy Forrest Band was on hand to entertain the crowds.

The trophy classes included: Most Original, Most Unique, Best in Show, Best Truck, Best Motorcycle, Best Hot Rod, Best Rat Rod, Veteran’s Choice, Most Patriotic, and Jeep.

Awards included

Best in Show: Charles George, Green Ford F100.

Most Original: Jimmy Dugger, 1960 Chevrolet Corvette.

Most Unique: Alton Sheppard, 1953 Studebaker.

Best Truck: Larry and Sandy Taylor, 1957 Chevrolet Pick Up.

Best Motorcycle: Joshua Waddington, 2008 Harley Davidson – Deluxe.

Best Hot Rod: Danny Floyd, 1927 T Bucket.

Best Rat Rod: Bobby Daily, 1929 Ford Tudor Sedan.

Best Jeep: Julio Alanas, 2018 Jeep - Sahara - Black.

Best Car: Mike Jones, 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air.

Best Corvette: Jimmy Duggar, 1960 Chevrolet Corvette.

Most Patriotic: Rock Snyder, Chevrolet Corvette.

The DAV is an organization that was established in 1920 by World War I veterans. It was designed for disabled military veterans of the United States Armed Forces and their families to help with various means. It was issued a federal charter by Congress in 1932 and currently has over 1 million members.
