Coryell County Day of Prayer to be held Sept. 7

Posted

A 24-hour prayer vigil will be held at local churches in Coryell County on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Plans are underway to involve Gatesville and Coryell County in a 24-hour Prayer Vigil. The members of the Don Allison Methodist Sunday School Class are reaching out to local churches and all citizens in the area to spread the word.

A spoksperson for the group states, "Prayer is vital in these challenging times, and we invite everyone to join us from 6 a.m. on Sept.7 to 6 a.m. on Sept. 8 at the church of your choice. As 2 Chronicles 7:14 reminds us:
'If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.' Our land is in desperate need of healing."

The goal of the 24-hour prayer vigil is to have as  many local churches as possible to open their doors during that 24 hour period and welcome in those who would like to come in and pray.

Churches that would like to participate in the Coryell County Day of Prayer can contact Debbie Martin at 254-216-0907. Text PRAYGOV to (833) 259-8648.

National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer (NDP) is also encouraging 100 Days of Prayer. The NDP urges us to pray for the attributes, attitudes, and actions of those who serve in government or are running for office. We are called to lift up the Word over seven aspects of their lives: HEART, SOUL, MIND, STRENGTH, FAMILY, STAFF, and ENEMIES. The NDP also encourages prayer in the areas of FAMILY, CHURCH, EDUCATION, MEDIA, GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS, and MILITARY.

For more information, visit the National Day of Prayer website at www.nationaldayofprayer.org. Navigate to the “Get Involved/Small Group Guides” section to find the "100 Days of Prayer for Government and Elections" guide. This guide provides prayer prompts and scripture verses that have been carefully selected to inspire and guide your prayers during this crucial period.
