Can you believe it’s June already? The temperature gauge certainly shows that it is, for all intents and purposes, summer. But, not to worry as you can head to Pearl right now and sit in the air-conditioned auditorium at the Pearl Community Center for some great live music. The stage show begins at 1 p.m., and there is absolutely no admission charge. The Bluegrass Kitchen is open, and you’ll love the homemade, reasonably priced fare. You’ll love the Pearl Cottage Bookstore, too. It has over 6,000 books and other items, and most purchases are by donation as it is a charity house. Grab some friends and head on out to the Community Center in Pearl, Texas. There’s no place like Pearl!
These are exciting times for the Pearl Bluegrass at the Pearl Community Center. The new officers are working hard to ensure a fun day in Pearl during each Bluegrass event. You can contact Garrett Dickey, President of the Pearl Community Center Board, at 254-595-1095 to schedule stage time. Just leave a message, and he will get back to you. Or, you can find Garrett or Chris Ray at the Community Center on Bluegrass days. Please tell your contacts at nursing homes that van loads of residents are welcome at the Pearl Bluegrass event.
The Community Center is truly the hub of Pearl. It serves as a place for funeral lunches, reunions, and other community events. To rent the building or rent an RV space, contact Connie Long at 254-223-0621.
Future dates for Bookstore and Pearl Bluegrass days are July 6, August 3, September 14 (second Saturday due to longstanding booking for a reunion), October 5, November 2, and December 7. Mark your calendars. Kay and Corlisa will love seeing you, so stop by, visit, and enjoy a shopping adventure.
There will be a Pearl Cemetery Meeting at 7 p.m., on June 24, at the Pearl Community Center. All are invited to attend. The Pearl Community Center Board quarterly meeting will be held July 22, with the fourth quarterly meeting being held on October 28, also at the Pearl Community Center. Both meetings of the Pearl Community Center Board will be at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend as well.
The Pearl Church of Christ finished their week of VBS on Friday. I will have information as to how the week went in next week’s Pearl News. I think that right now the VBS workers are probably in recovery mode, but they’ll get back with me as soon as their tired bones rejuvenate. They are an absolutely outstanding group of people and appreciated more than they can ever know.
