Last week's fundraiser was a huge success

Posted

The Pearl Church of Christ reports a great day last Sunday during the annual Labor Day Atchley Fish Fry and Silent Auction for His Kids. The tentative total currently is $13,703. There were 141 in attendance with 22 of those being little kiddos. Linda Ray said that there were 50 cars on the grounds. Everyone enjoyed Dr. Charles Patterson’s lesson on rest. Several former Killeen ISD faculty and staff were in attendance to visit with Dr. Patterson, who was their long-time superintendent. A big thank you goes out to all involved in this silent auction and fish fry. It is an undertaking of monumental proportions. To Linda Ray, who gathers all of the auction items throughout the year, to all who made donations of auction items, to all of those who helped in tagging those items, to those who brought food, to those who endured the heat and humidity to cook all of the fish and fixings, and to all of those who made those generous bids on the items, a huge thank you is just not enough said. Thanks to all these wonderful volunteers, His Kids will get to attend Christian camp and obtain scholarships to further their education. Ultimately, to God be the Glory as great things He has done!

The next Pearl Bluegrass and Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day is Sept. 14. The Bluegrass jamming goes on all day, and the stage show begins at 1 p.m. This is a free event. The Bluegrass Kitchen has delicious homemade food available for purchase at very reasonable prices (cash only) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (The desserts are out of this world awesome!) The bookstore opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. Most everything in the bookstore is “buy what you want, pay what you want,” and all proceeds go toward local charities. There are over 6,000 books in excellent condition as well as various other items. Gather your family and friends and make a day of it in Pearl. You won’t regret a minute of it!

This week’s Bible verse comes from Ephesians 4:29—Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. NIV
