The Pearl Cottage Bookstore reports that a great day was had by all last week on Bookstore Saturday and Pearl Bluegrass Day.

If you’re looking for a good book or twenty (winter is coming on, you know), the Pearl Cottage Bookstore is the place to go. Many genres in both fiction and non-fiction, and in both hardback and paperback, cover the walls. In fact, there are over 6,000 books in that little house. All the books are in great condition, and you can “buy what you want, pay what you want” as the bookstore is a charity house, so most purchases are made by donation. The ladies of the Pearl Cottage Bookstore are a hoot, and you may walk in as a stranger, but you will leave a friend. The next bookstore and Bluegrass day is on December 2, so mark your calendars. The bookstore is open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. that day. There’s no place like Pearl.

The Pearl Community Thanksgiving Lunch will be held on Nov. 12 in the Pearl Community Center, and everyone is invited. There will be a church service at 10:30 a.m., and then lunch will begin serving at 11:30 a.m. Feel free to bring your favorite side dish and/or dessert, and a big appetite.

This Grammie had the most wonderful weekend last week! I had all four of my grands, ages 4, 6, 8, and 10, plus their dads, and a great time was had by all. (Both moms were at conferences, and we surely did miss them!) We started our weekend by having dinner at Dolli’s Diner in historic downtown Nacogdoches and then visiting and playing till the wee hours of the morning. It’s a good thing we got to enjoy the “fall back in Fall” time change on Sunday morning as every single one of us stayed up way past our bedtimes both Friday and Saturday nights! The kids also got to swim in an indoor pool, visit a planetarium, visit the Stephen F. Austin University campus, enjoy the playland at another restaurant, and eat way more than we probably should have. The only sad part is watching them drive away. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that, but I thank the good Lord for the times that we do get to spend together and pray for many, many more to come.

This week’s Bible verse comes from Psalm 127:3—Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him.” NIV

Please pray for continued blessing of rain, our veterans and service men and women, our country, our schools, and Israel.
