The Pearl Cottage Bookstore reports a great day this past first Saturday. They appreciate all their customers/friends and invite you to come back next month on June 1 for another awesome day in Pearl. Remember, most purchases are by donation only with all proceeds going toward local charities. It’s the home of over 6,000 books!  If you’re a band and would like to be part of the stage show at The Pearl Community Center on that day, you can contact the new president, Garrett Dickey, at 254-595-1095. Remember that the Pearl Community Center has a new president as well as vice-president, Chris Ray, and they would love to say howdy to you when you come for the first Saturday events. To reserve RV sites, you can continue to contact Connie at 254-223-0621 to make reservations. Everyone is welcome at both the Book Cottage and the Pearl Community Center Bluegrass event. (There’s good food as well as pie in the Bluegrass Kitchen, which can be purchased with cash only. It’s open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Bluegrass days.) Bring friends.

The Pearl Church of Christ had 27 people attend this past Scholarship Sunday. However, many of the folks couldn’t get to Pearl because of the intense flooding situation, and only one recipient was able to attend. Therefore, Sunday, May 12, will be Scholarship Sunday, the Sequel. It’s also Mother’s Day! Bring your mother and/or a picture of your mother. Everyone is always welcome at Pearl Church of Christ. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning.

The Pearl Church of Christ will hold its annual VBS May 27 through May 31, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. each day. The theme this year is “Jesus loves You!” Be sure and mark your calendars, and please tell all your friends and family. The Pearl Church of Christ VBS is epic, and you don’t want to miss it.

The Pearl Baptist Church will host the Pearl Mainstreet Festival on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be food, a bounce house, a cake walk, and a silent auction to benefit the Backpack Buddies at Evant School. Everyone is welcome to attend. The event takes place rain or shine.

Pearl claims bragging rights on two of its own: Misti and Chris Ray! Misti has been named Teacher of the Year at Gatesville Intermediate, and Chris has been named Educated Angel Secondary Teacher of the Year at Pathways in Killeen. Pearl is so proud of these two very special, very dear young people. They truly have the hearts of young people as their focus and concern. God bless and congratulations to both of them!

This week’s Bible verse comes from Proverbs 31:31—Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. NIV
