Cartel Cook-Off to be held May 27

The Eldon Perkins third annual Cartel Cook-Off will be held on Saturday, May 27, at the Evant Municipal Park.

Non-sanctioned entry fees include $100 for 3 meats (brisket, ribs, and chicken), $10 for appetizers, $10 for beans. Turn in times will be at noon for appetizers, 1 p.m. for beans, 2 p.m. for chicken, 3 p.m. for ribs, and 4 p.m. for brisket.

The grand champion will win $400. Only one winner will be awarded in each category, with a trophy and cash.

The rules include that cooking may be done with wood, charcoal, gas, wood pellets, solar or nuclear power. No electricity or water will be at the site. Additional rules include that all entries must be cooked on site and no store-bought entries will be allowed. Entries can be cooked with barbecue sauce, but not served with at turn-in.
