James E. Taylor, age 83, of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at his home.
No services are scheduled at this time.
James was born on Sept. 29, 1940 in Dunlap, Iowa. He served in the United States Army in both the 101st and 82nd Airborne Division. After honorably discharging from the Army, he worked for the Bridgestone/Firestone Corporation and later for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice before his retirement. He was a hardworking, honorable man who made sure that his family was well taken care of.
Many thanks to Gatesville Police Officer, Anthony Martinez, who was there to help Jim during his time off, as well as the officers from the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office who were there to care for Jim. I was so touched. Many thanks to the fantastic ambulance personnel who worked hard with Officer Martinez to bring Jim back, and for their sincere words. They knew the pain that I was going through. I also want to thank Judge Jim Caldwell for his hugs that were needed, and finally to Nathan Gohlke and Scott’s Funeral Home. Jim is now in your care, and I don’t worry as much. Thank you to all who have cared for Jim. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
