Shivaree returns, starts Thursday

The Gatesville Sharee will return to downtown Gatesville for its 50th anniversary on Thursday, May 30 through Saturday, June 1.

This year’s Shivaree celebration will present three days of various activities, including: 

  • A local carnival
  • Color the Shivaree –a Fun Run 5K
  • A pickleball tournament
  • The 50th Anniversary Shivaree Car, Jeep, Truck, and Motorcycle Show
  • A petting zoo provided by Hal and Jo’s Funny Farm
  • Various food and knick-knack vendors
  • Live music

The carnival will be located at the corner of 7th Street and Bridge Street (across from the Gatesville City Pool). The cost will be $25 per person, and children must be at least 36" tall to purchase a wristband. On Thursday and Friday, it will operate from 7-10 p.m. On Saturday, the carnival will open at 10 a.m. and only individual tickets will be sold.

The 50th Anniversary Shivaree Car, Jeep, Truck, and Motorcycle Show will start in Raby Park on Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m.

The 5K Color the Shivaree Run will follow the path of the Donut Dash and start at the northwest corner of Raby Park on Saturday, June 1, starting at 8 a.m.

The Shivaree Downtown Showdown Doubles Pickleball Tournament will take place at the pickleball courts in Raby Park. The tournament will be split into three divisions:

  • Open Division (experienced players): Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Competitive Division (balanced competition): Sunday, June 2 from 1 – 5 p.m.
  • Recreation Division (age 55 and older): Sunday, June 2 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Entertainment for the Shivaree will feature Texas Country music singer, Carson Jeffrey, who will perform on the courthouse square on Saturday, June 1, at 7 p.m. "Doors" will open at 6 p.m.
