United Women in Faith held monthly meeting April 11

United Women in Faith met on Tuesday, April 11 in the banquet room of the Methodist Church in Gatesville. Sixteen members were present, including one new member, Cindy Martin. Hostesses were Melinda Ivy and Linda Maxwell.

Patsy Smart, president, began the meeting by leading in the blessing. During refreshments, Linda Klontz led members in choosing a new prayer partner. Following refreshments, Smart thanked the hostesses and read The Purpose. Mary Beth Rivers read from the daily prayer guide and Velva Riddle read from the response magazine.

Doris Nichols presented the program from our book “Who Can We Be Together?” The session comes from Luke 13:18-19, where Jesus compared the kingdom of God to a grain of mustard seed, which when planted grew to be a great tree with lots of room for bird nests. Nichols gave each member some mustard seeds, pointing out how tiny they are. The seeds can blow over to the neighborhoods with new trees springing up. Members were asked to think about all the people in our community who we can influence with the gospel of Jesus. Shirleen Chandler led the group in singing “Have Thine Own Way, Lord.”

President Smart called the business meeting to order and read a thank-you note from a recipient of our recent gifts. In unfinished business, Carol Dildine reported that they have three graduating seniors: Siera Haney, William Herrington Farrell, and Kaydee Palady.

Sunday, May 21, was chosen to honor the seniors, during the 10:30 a.m. service. Members discussed gifts that would be given to each graduate. In new business, Chandler reminded members that the group is a mission organization and suggested donating to a couple of mission projects with some of the funds. Members approved of the projects.

The meeting adjourned with the benediction.
