Tigers crush Coolidge, 54-8, in home game Sept. 27

The Oglesby Tiger varsity football team played host to the Coolidge Yellow Jackets on Friday, Sept. 27.

The Tigers dominated the Yellow Jackets throughout the entire contest, and ended the game 54 to 8 on a 30-yard touchdown pass as time expired from Holdyn Goff to Jaxon Markum.

The Tigers also played great defense tonight, controlling the game from start to finish. 

Kyler Fossett zigged and zagged his way to the end zone all night, proving each game that he is among the most elite running backs in the state. Fossett carried the ball 13 times for 168 rushing yards, had four touchdowns, 68 yards receiving, and one touchdown 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Fossett ended the night with 338 total yards and six touchdowns. 

Aiden Oxford carried the ball seven times for 53 yards. Abram Shaw had three carries for 15 yards. Jakson Tippit had one carry for 11 yards. Alex Castillo passed 2/5 for 68 yards and had one touchdown. Castillo was perfect on point-after-touchdowns (PAT’s) kicking 6/6 for 12 points. Holdyn Goff went 2/3 passing for 30 yards and had one touchdown. Jaxon Markum had one 30-yard touchdown reception. 

Defensively for Tigers

Jakson Tippit had his best defensive game of year with 12 tackles and a tackle behind the line of scrimmage for a loss. Jack Hendricks had 12 tackles. Holdyn Goff had 11 tackles and one interception. Mason Marquez had four tackles. Alex Castillo had three tackles. Abram Shaw had three tackles. Aiden Oxford had two tackles.

The Tigers improved their record to 3-2 on year and traveled to Marble Falls to play the Marble Falls Faith Flames on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. The results of the game will be featured in the Saturday, Oct. 12 edition of The Gatesville Messenger.
